JOin our guardian program

what is a guardian program?

Here at SMB we strive to give all of our dogs the best experience possible! Its very important to us the all of our parents dogs live inside a home, with family of their own, where they can get the care and attention they deserve. As our program continues to grow and expand beyond our means we are offering an amazing guardian program that allows families to house one of our parent dog, make a passive income, and get a free SMB dog after they are finished having puppies for us. What’s not to love?!

the basics

For every family that has reached out to us and gotten qualified for our program will go on our list of guardian families, once we have a puppy that fits your family the best we will reach out to you for the next steps, signing our guardian contract, receiving the puppy, and given careful instructions on feeding, grooming, and general care. Our mamas will have a maximum of 4 litters each of which the guardian family will receive 10% of the total puppy sales made from that litter.

Qualifications:

  • Guardian families must have a fenced in yard

  • Must have previous experience owning/caring for a dog

Guardian Families must be able to:

-Provide a puppy/dog with proper health care, nutrition, and exercise.

-Properly train, and socialize with appropriate tools and methods.

-Keep up with grooming (both professionally and at home) including regular bathing and brushing.

**Guardian families must live in Ohio-preferably Holmes, Coshocton, or Tuscarawas counties. We will happily consider other areas as well.

Owning a female guardian dog:

Once the dog is of age, has passed all of her health testing, and is ready to breed (typically on her second heat cycle) we will have her over for a few days during the breeding process and later for the duration of whelping her litter. After she has been are she will return to her guardian family who will care for her during her pregnancy. She will then come back to us a week before she is due to whelp her litter. Once old enough female dogs will spend at least 6-8 weeks per year in our care to whelp, raise, and wean their puppies (guardian families are always welcome to visit). Guardians must be able to detect a heat cycle (while notifying us the first day the cycle is seen). Females will retire after having 5 litters. Once retired the female will be spayed (courtesy of us) and continue to live the remainder of her life with her guardian family.

Owning a male guardian dog:

Once the dog is of age, has passed all of his health testing, and is ready to breed, our male dogs will spend a few days with us at the time when needed during breeding. Males will typically sire around 3-6 litters per year. Occasionally males will be needed for stud service to outside breeding programs. Male dog retire around the age of 5-7. Once retired the males will be neutered, and will live with his guardian family for the remainder of his life.
